Gwinnett County commissioners approve agenda and consent items; share community program updates

Commissioner Jasper Watkins said Gwinnett Police will hold a hiring event on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Police Training Center in Lawrenceville; attendees can complete the first phase of the two-phase hiring process, including an obstacle course, orientation, application steps and interview elements. Watkins also noted a Hazardous Waste Collection Day planned at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, a Greater Atlanta HBCU College Fair set for Feb. 9 at South Gwinnett High School, and other county events available online at GwinnettCounty.com.
Commissioner Holcomb said the Gwinnett Police “badges and youth education” program will offer county high-school students (grades 9–12) interactive sessions with precinct officers beginning in February, and he urged families to register online. Holcomb also promoted hands-on CPR classes held twice monthly at Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services headquarters; classes run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The public comment period was opened but no speakers stepped forward. The chairwoman closed the business session, accepted a motion to adjourn and declared the meeting adjourned. A previously scheduled informal 3 p.m. discussion was canceled.
