Fulton County approves contracts for jail maintenance, tree trimming and water-plant operations

County staff sought authorization to extend an existing contract for comprehensive operation, preventive and corrective maintenance services for the Fulton County Jail system. The board approved the extension in an amount not to exceed $2,815,000; the vote was recorded as 5-0.
The board also approved the lowest responsible bidder for tree trimming and vegetation clearing services in an amount not to exceed $130,604, again on a 5-0 vote.
Finally, commissioners approved a recommended proposal to provide operations and maintenance services for the Atlanta–Fulton County Water Treatment Facility in an amount not to exceed $6,192,307. County staff said the contract term was revised from five years to 10 years; the motion passed 5-0. When asked by Commissioner Dana Barrett whether the $6.19 million represented Fulton County's share or the total plant cost, a county staff member, Mr. Clark, said the $6.19 million is the total cost split between Fulton County and the City of Atlanta and that Fulton County typically purchases about two-thirds of the plant's output, implying the county's share is roughly two-thirds of the total.
All three items were presented by county staff as routine procurement actions; commissioners opened the floor for questions before voting. No amendments to the motions were recorded.
