Fulton County transmits draft 2045 comprehensive plan for unincorporated area to ARC and DCA

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted 6–0 on Feb. 19 to transmit a draft of the 2045 comprehensive plan for the county’s remaining unincorporated area to the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for required review.
The plan covers a mostly industrial area near the airport that includes property south and west of Fulton Industrial Boulevard and strips along MLK Drive. County staff said the draft largely continues the industrial land‑use pattern established in the 2016 plan and focuses on maintaining economic development opportunities and improved broadband access.
Why it matters: DCA acceptance of an adopted comprehensive plan makes the jurisdiction eligible for certain state funding programs, including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding and some Georgia Department of Transportation funding that the county uses.

Motion and vote
Commissioner Khadija Abdul Rahman moved to approve transmission of the draft plan to ARC and DCA; Commissioner Bridget Thorne seconded. The motion passed by a 6–0 vote.
