Trustees asked how the board will evaluate completion of goals that are implementation‑oriented (for example, curriculum implementation or professional development). Several trustees requested concrete artifacts or intermediate measurements — such as fall and mid‑year i‑Ready data and post‑unit assessments — that the board can use to judge progress. The superintendent said some goals are SMART (specific, measurable) while others focus on building systems and implementation; he indicated cabinet and principal evaluations and professional development records would be evidence of work on implementation goals.
Trustees also directed the superintendent to provide a recommendation regarding the district’s 501 West University building as part of the master property planning process. Staff said the district’s master property planning work is expected to conclude in April and that a recommendation before the superintendent’s evaluation would be possible.
The motion to approve the five goals and the additional direction on 501 West University passed with five votes in favor and one opposed. No specific numeric SAT target was added to the approved goals at the session.
