That 6 schools are Acadian, Dularch, Grand Cayenne, Bridal, Houma Junior High, Lisa Park and Montague Middle," Superintendent Ojuro said, describing prioritized sites based on outdated or missing systems.
Ojuro described the scope as including cameras, door buzz-in intercoms and card readers for swipe access. "We're also gonna do card readers and swipe access cards for all these schools," he said.
Board member Matthew Ford asked whether systems would be standardized and whether central office would have observational access. Ojuro replied that unifying equipment was a priority and said the district could move toward central access for authorized personnel. "That's probably one of the main priorities that I didn't mention is to have everybody on a similar system," Ojuro said.
Ojuro identified the installation as primarily funded by a Stronger Connections grant and said that grant timing required the board to act at this special meeting.
Board members voiced thanks to staff involved in securing the work, and the board voted to approve the recommendation and authorized the superintendent or board president to sign, subject to attorney review.
