Executive committee sends two policies back to policy committee amid confusion over prior "discussion only" status; resident warns removal would silence public

Committee members debated whether the committee had recommended bringing either item to the full board; multiple members said no formal motion had been recorded at the committee meeting.
During the public comment period resident John Glover spoke to item 8.07 and said removing a section of the policy would limit public presentations and “silence the voices of citizens.” Glover told the board he did not appreciate the proposed change and said the policy change would make presentations amenable only if the board agreed to add them to the agenda. Jackie Lansdale also commented in favor of employee engagement and said she supported the superintendent’s explanation of other items.
President Green and staff recorded that 8.06 and 8.07 would be handled in committee; the transcript records the president’s direction to send the items back to the policy committee and does not record a final board vote on those policy revisions at the executive committee meeting.
