The Richland 1 School District Board of Commissioners moved into executive session on Feb. 18, 2025, to receive legal advice about the Early Learning Center construction project.
Commissioner Bishop moved to enter executive session for legal advice regarding the ELC construction project; Commissioner Devine seconded. The board voted unanimously, 7โ0, to go into executive session. After the closed session the board reconvened and Commissioner Hersey moved to come out of executive session, seconded by Commissioner Wesson; the motion passed by a unanimous 7โ0 vote.
Board counsel Dr. Richardson told the board that legal advice had been provided on the ELC construction project and that the briefing was "for information purposes only." No questions of Dr. Richardson were recorded in the public minutes, and the transcript does not record any formal action or vote related to the substance of the legal advice during the public meeting.
The board announced its next regular meeting for Feb. 25, 2025, at Columbia High School.
