Orange County committee votes to rescind prior resolutions related to gaming committee; cites defunct Catskill OTV

Kevin Hynes, chairman of the Orange County Legislature, introduced a resolution on Jan. 23 to rescind several prior resolutions that had dealt with the Orange County Economic Development Gaming Committee. The Education & Economic Development Committee voted to approve the rescission.
Hynes told the committee the Catskill OTV (the entity tied to the prior resolutions) “really doesn't exist anymore,” and described a decline in a previously reported capital reserve: he said the account once held about $12,000,000, was later reported at $9,000,000, and that the group subsequently stopped meeting and is now, in his words, down to zero.
Hynes said casino-related revenue reporting will instead be directed to the Ways and Means Committee through Commissioner Gallagher and will be available at quarterly meetings or on request. Legislator Lou Hunt and others present supported placing the rescission on the record; the committee approved the action by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
