Rachel Wilson, director of the Youth Bureau, asked the Education & Economic Development Committee on Jan. 23 to abolish two vacant positions: one senior secretary (Grade 7) and one part-time senior account clerk (Grade 7). The committee approved the request.
Wilson told the committee that the abolished positions are not needed and that the change will support handling a larger number of contracts and fiscal claims. The request was submitted as Legislative Request 322; Wilson said the positions being removed have not been needed for more than 11 years.
The transcript records pay-rate details for Grade 7, step 2: $23.97 per hour, or $23,385.32 annually based on a 19-hour-per-week schedule. Wilson said the positions will be funded roughly 40% by county taxation and 60% by state taxation and that the funding comes from the 2025 budget.
Committee members moved and seconded the measure (motion and second recorded in the meeting); the committee approved the abolishment by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
