Orange County accepts 2025 intermunicipal agreements for senior and congregate dining sites

The Orange County Legislature approved intermunicipal agreements with the village of Greenwood Lake, the town of Blooming Grove, the town of Cornwall, the village of Montgomery and other municipalities to fund senior and congregate dining centers for Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2025.

A county presenter said the agreements are routine and the dollar amounts vary with how often a site serves meals: sites that serve once per week receive $5,000 annually, twice per week $10,000, and distribution sites that manage meal distribution and volunteer coordination receive larger payments. The presenter cited Blooming Grove as a distribution site that receives $30,000. The presenter said Cornwall serves three times per week and receives a higher payment; a line in the record referenced $400 for one category but the transcript did not clearly tie that figure to the specific service level.

Committee members asked about suggested donations at congregate sites. The presenter said donations are voluntary and that any donations collected and left with volunteers are returned to the county under the village contract.
