Sheriff’s office to add monitoring screens for patrol GPS; coroner’s 2024 report filed as FYI

The Protective Services Committee approved a budgetary amendment Feb. 13 to purchase monitors for station offices that will display patrol vehicle GPS alongside computer-aided dispatch (CAD) information.
Under-sheriff and captain-level staff told the committee the requested items are monitors for various offices so dispatch and supervisors can monitor patrol activity and split the screen to show CAD on the other side. “The items we are requesting here are just monitors, actually, to put in various offices throughout the building so we can monitor the activity of our patrol vehicles that are equipped with the GPS,” a sheriff’s office presenter said.
Committee members confirmed the purchase is paid for through a traffic enforcement commission grant and that there is no county fiscal impact for the equipment purchase. The committee approved the amendment by voice vote.
Separately, the sheriff’s office noted a grant application to a state senator’s office to replace an aging correctional transport vehicle; staff said the grant will cover the vehicle, emergency equipment and upfitting if awarded.
The committee also received the Putnam County coroner’s 2024 annual report as an informational item and adjourned without further action on that report.
