Superintendent-level remarks: legislative trends, agricultural program and March board retreat

"We're expecting to see eventually some changes to the free reduced lunch program... It looks like there's going to be some increase in accountability and monitoring... more robust and effective superintendents contracts and, Act 93 changes," Staff member said. The presenter said the district will evaluate how potential state-level funding changes flow through formulas or block grants.
The presenter also said the governor highlighted agriculture innovation funding; the district is moving forward with an agriculture education program and will monitor funding opportunities. "One of the main discussion points from the governor was a focus on agriculture innovation... that agriculture innovation seems to be at the forefront," Staff member said.
Staff member asked the board to pencil in March 1 for a proposed board retreat, to be held at the South building, focused on strategic visioning and a five-year strategic plan the presenter referred to as "Groupon 20 30." "If you could pencil in March 1, it looks like we have a credible mass for the proposed board retreat," Staff member said, adding the retreat will emphasize strategic visioning, case studies, and student and teacher presentations.
