MassDEP’s Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup said it is recruiting multiple positions, including two remedial project manager roles and a newly approved Administrator‑6 chief for information and data management in the technical financial support division.
Millie Garcia Serrano described the remedial project manager roles as positions to oversee complex site assessment and remediation projects, including federal Superfund and Department of Defense sites. The bureau encouraged candidates to apply and noted that applications received by March 5, 2025 will receive full consideration; an internal earlier cutoff of February 25 was noted for full consideration of some applicants.
The bureau also said it had secured approval to post a manager for information and data management (Administrator 6) to coordinate the bureau’s data needs with MassDEP IT and other executive offices; first consideration for applications also will prioritize submissions received by March 5, 2025.
David Foss, MassDEP’s Brownfields coordinator, outlined a schedule of Brownfields roundtables across the Commonwealth intended to help applicants assemble teams and prepare for the EPA competitive application period typically open from September to November. Foss listed regional events including May 13 in Taunton (working with the Southeast Regional Planning and Economic Development district), spring sessions in Worcester (Central Mass), a fall session in Greenfield with Franklin Regional Council of Governments, and other regional meetings. Foss said these roundtables will bring state, EPA and partner resource organizations to present grant and redevelopment resources.
MassDEP staff also noted upcoming outreach appearances: bureau staff will present at an Environmental Business Council symposium on March 4 and at the LSPA environmental symposium in April.
