School Committee approves 2025–26 calendar with full Wednesday off before Thanksgiving

The Auburn School Committee voted Feb. 5 to adopt the 2025–26 school calendar as presented by the superintendent.
The superintendent said family and staff survey responses supported the proposed schedule, which provides a full day off the Wednesday before Thanksgiving; students would be in session on Monday, Dec. 22, and a half day on Tuesday, Dec. 23, before winter break. The district will resume classes on Jan. 5.
Committee members said the survey and outreach helped inform the decision; the vote was taken by voice and recorded as approved.
The calendar was the same as the version previously presented and surveyed; the superintendent thanked the committee for the direction to survey stakeholders and said the results showed overall support.
No further action was required beyond posting the approved calendar to the district website and notifying families.
