Committee introduces bill to allow pay for legislative pages related to legislators

Representative Andress of District 35 told the Ways and Means Committee RS32263 “is very minuscule” and would allow legislative pages to be paid even if they are related to the legislator they serve. “I don't think that they should be harmed because of that relation, and so this allows them to be paid,” the sponsor said.
Representative Rubell moved to introduce RS32263; the committee approved the motion by voice vote. The sponsor characterized the proposal as a simple correction to existing practice; no fiscal note or statutory citations were presented at this introductory hearing.
The bill was introduced for further committee consideration.
