A Main Street Batavia representative reported Feb. 17 that the organization is pursuing grants and marketing efforts to support downtown businesses and events.
Main Street said it held a 'Celebrate Success' event with nearly 100 attendees and honored businesses including New Moon Vegan (Rising Star), Sturdy Shelter Brewing (Community Impact) and Sidecar Supper Club (Innovative Events). The organization has mailed more than 100 welcome packets to new homeowners with downtown guides and plans to track QR-code usage.
Main Street reported it has applied for four grants and received one: a $5,000 Illinois Main Street grant for marketing. Funds will support paid social campaigns, influencer outreach and a public-relations engagement to pitch summer and fall stories. Main Street also said it is creating a downtown “hype team” and has sold 67% of available sponsorships for the year.
Council thanked Main Street for its work promoting the downtown and encouraged continued outreach to businesses.
