Committee approves NJROTC Europe trip, White Mountains hike, senior overnight and several district measures

Field trips and student activities - NJROTC international field trip (April 2026): The committee approved a proposed 10-day itinerary that would visit Berlin, Dresden, Prague (with an Auschwitz visit option), Budapest and surrounding sites. The adviser said the trip is intended to support cultural awareness, historical study and student personal growth; the travel provider discussed safety protections and a global-protection plan. The committee approved the trip by roll call.
- Weekend hiking club (White Mountain National Forest, May 9–11): The committee approved a faculty‑led weekend trip for up to 16 students, car-camping in a forest-service campground, use of district vans and a registration fee of $40 to cover campground and some meals. The adviser said an experienced guiding service would visit to present hiker safety and leave-no-trace principles; the committee approved the trip by roll call.
- Senior class overnight (Camp Ogontz, Lincoln, N.H.; June 2–3): The committee approved an overnight senior event that includes waterfront activities, games, meals on site and staffed programing. Transport will be by bus and the event will use funds raised by the senior class. Committee members approved the request by roll call.

- FY25 budget transfer: The committee approved a multi-line transfer reallocating funds among regular and special-education instructional support, benefits and other line items (transportation, athletics, building and grounds, technology maintenance). The motion passed on roll call.
- School-year calendar (2025–26): The committee approved the proposed calendar as presented; one member voted no. The district noted ongoing discussion about the frequency of half-day professional-development sessions.
- Competency determination for graduation: The committee adopted a local competency-determination statement aligned with MassCore/course completion for tenth-grade standards and retained MCAS as an available pathway for certain students. District leaders said the policy will be placed in the student handbook and that the state is forming a task force that may recommend future statewide standards.
- Ratification of School Nutrition Professionals contract (07/01/2025–06/30/2028): The committee ratified a multi-year collective-bargaining agreement in executive session; the ratification was approved on a roll call vote.
Committee members said staff will circulate written approvals and permission forms to families and will post contract documents and calendar updates to district resources.
