At the Feb. 20 Gardner City Board of Assessors meeting, the Assessor (name not specified) reported that staff processed nine omitted revised bills for fiscal year 02/2025, including four solar accounts covered by pilot agreements that were underbilled.
The Assessor said the nine adjustments fell into two groups: five personal-property accounts that were left off the January bills because of a billing problem, and four solar accounts that pay a fixed annual fee under pilot agreements and must be billed through the personal-property system. "I did process the nine omitted revised bills," the Assessor said. For the solar accounts, the Assessor explained, staff estimate the amounts to bill; if the bill is higher than the agreed payment the city issues an abatement, and if it is lower staff issues an omitted revised bill to make up the difference.
The Assessor also told the board they had attended the appointments committee and city council meetings related to their reappointment; the Assessor said both bodies unanimously forwarded and approved the reappointment and that they were sworn in for an additional three-year term. Times mentioned in the update: appointments committee at 6:30 p.m. and city council at 7:30 p.m. The report did not include dollar amounts for the omitted or revised bills, nor a list of account identifiers.
No board vote was recorded on the billing items in the meeting transcript provided; the report was presented as an operational update.
