Yeadon wins $150,000 Providence Road stormwater grant; McDade Church ramp project delayed pending PennDOT approvals

Megan Todaro of Pennoni Engineering told the Yeadon caucus on Feb. 13 that the borough received a $150,000 grant for Providence Road stormwater improvements but that the awarded amount is "a little bit less than what we put in for," so staff will adjust project scope.
Todaro said the work will address stormwater flows and inlet/discharge improvements on both sides of a stream near the bottom of Providence Road. "We're looking into, with the reduced amount, adjusting some of the scope and what we can do with those funds," she said.
Todaro also reported that a notice has been issued for a small water-and-sewer grant whose application is due April 30; borough staff and the engineer will evaluate feasible projects that could qualify for that program and bring recommendations to council in the next two months.
On McDade Boulevard near Church Lane, Todaro said planned one-way work and ramps require PennDOT approval and are delayed. She said PennDOT has not completed ramp approvals and that a meeting is scheduled to try to resolve remaining issues. Borough staff later told council they will escalate outreach to PennDOT if responses continue to be delayed.
Public Works reported a separate, long-running utility project: PECO Energy plans to install about one mile of new gas main along Union Avenue, Fairview, Bailey Road, Wycombe Avenue and McDade Boulevard; borough staff warned residents the multi-block work will cause road closures and detours and could continue into October or November.
There was no formal council vote recorded on the grants or the McDade ramp schedule at the caucus; staff were asked to continue coordination, adjust project scopes as needed for the Providence Road grant and report back to council as design and approvals progress.
Ending: Staff said they will circulate updates to council once they have revised scopes for the Providence Road work and when they can confirm PennDOT's timeline for McDade Church ramps and related traffic changes.
