Yukon accepts ARPA SLFRF grant for fire training tower; council awards tower and concrete contracts

Council members commended the grants team. A council member noted the city’s grant writing team had “done a killer job” and staff confirmed the city had won the grant. The motion to accept the ARPA SLFRF grant and related contracts passed by roll call.
Staff said the training tower contract will include a reimbursement arrangement under the OEM grant; reimbursement timing and any required closeout deliverables were not detailed at the meeting and will be handled through the grant administration process.
The council’s approval authorizes the city manager and procurement staff to finalize contracts and proceed with scheduled construction and site work under the stated budget limits. Any amendments or additional funding requests will return to council for approval.
