Volunteers report trail work; city says Beaver Creek Canyon allocation used and will request renewal

Several volunteers and residents reported recent volunteer work and asked about the status of a Trailkeepers of Oregon project. Frank (volunteer) and others described blackberry removals, stair reconstruction in Beaver Creek Canyon, and planned tree plantings along the Sandy River trail.
Resident Bryce Bogarner asked about a Trailkeepers of Oregon project for Kiku Park. Parks staff responded that an allocation originally discussed was used for Beaver Creek Canyon trail repairs in the previous fiscal year, and the allocation was not renewed in the subsequent budget. Jonah Jacobson said he has re‑submitted the Beaver Creek Canyon/Trailkeepers allocation as a line item for the FY 2025–26 budget and hopes it will be approved.
Volunteer Frank described upcoming volunteer events including a March 1 street-tree planting and a March 29 Chop Chop Trail cleanup. Zach Andrews, City of Troutdale (council member), thanked volunteers and encouraged continued participation. Committee members thanked volunteers and encouraged continued coordination between staff and volunteer groups.
