Council recommends Class D liquor license for downtown convenience store
Summary

The Beatrice City Council unanimously moved to recommend a Class D liquor license application for REZ LLC, doing business as Cheapest Dam Butts and Booze at 116 North Eighth Street, to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.
The decision followed a public hearing at which city police and zoning staff reported no objections and the applicant appeared in person.
During the hearing, a city official reporting on zoning said the location is in the central business district and “liquor sales is allowed in CBD,” and that there were no issues from the zoning study. A separate background check memo from a police sergeant showed no disqualifying records for the applicant, Lori Ryzak.
Lori Ryzak, the applicant, told the council, “I’m here if anybody has any questions,” and described owning additional businesses in Lincoln and operating a farm north of Lincoln. Council members thanked her for appearing in person.
A motion to close the hearing passed 7-0. The council then moved that the application be recommended to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission; that motion passed 7-0.
No protest or public opposition was recorded on the transcript. The council also noted that the Safe Streets for All presentation was postponed to a later meeting.
