Jose Gonzalez, Transportation and Mobility Director, said the Southpointe Elementary joint-use agreement would allow parking after school hours and that staff had priced a monthly parking permit at approximately $90 per month. He said an alternative is reserving about 100 spaces in the Fifth & Alton garage at a comparable $100 monthly rate with unrestricted hours.
The committee noted an upfront, previously authorized $15,000 payment to the school board for the joint-use term; staff said that funding had been handled and the pilot can proceed. Members asked staff to consult restaurants about ideal start times for Friday-night shifts and to return with any needed operational adjustments to maximize utilization and address distance for employees.
The motion to implement the pilot with staff follow-up was approved unanimously.
