Bluff City — Bluff City officials heard public comments and board discussion about whether the town should permit a farmers’ market and increased Little League activity on land leased from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
A board member asked whether the Bluff City Family Committee would again be allowed to operate a farmers’ market on TVA land near the ball fields, saying the market and prior events created congestion that blocked voter parking and limited safe access. "That land is TVA land...we do have a lease. The town of Bluff City has a lease for a certain amount of money," a board member said.
Town staff said permitting is required for events on that site and that the town manager would handle approvals. Staff also said the town has been looking at alternative locations and permits to address safety and traffic flow. "We have looked at some alternative areas and some things that we can do differently with integration safety and everything like that," a staff member said.
Board members agreed to place the issue on a future work session agenda to coordinate parking, safety, permitting and how Little League and market activities can coexist during summer events. No final vote or permit was issued at the meeting.
