Board refers local hazard mitigation plan and lead service line inventory updates to committees

The Rutland City Board of Aldermen on Feb. 18 referred two items to standing committees for further review and action: the draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan to the Public Safety Committee, and an update on the lead service line inventory and next phases of Phase 2 work to the Public Works Committee.
An alderman asked that the hazard mitigation plan, which is being prepared by the regional planning commission, be referred so the committee could review and return a recommendation to the full board; the mayor said a final proposal is expected for the March 17 meeting. The referral passed by voice vote.
Public Works raised the lead service line inventory matter at the request of DPW staff. Alderman Gillum said the inventory and next phases are an EPA requirement and that timing was tight because loan issues and Phase 2 costs are being finalized. The board referred that update to the Public Works Committee; the referral passed by voice vote.
