An event organizer said the race has more than 100 runners registered and several nonprofit vendors signed up, and described a volunteer cleanup plan to remove temporary signage the day of the event. Alderman McClure asked specifically about cleanup after last year’s signs remained on lampposts for multiple weeks; the organizer said a crew would put signs up in the morning and remove them by 4 p.m. the same day.
The board suspended the rules, heard the presentation and approved the permit by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
