The Sparks Planning Commission on Feb. 20 approved amendments to its rules of procedure that clarify definitions of excused and unexcused absences, set limits on allowable absences, and address meetings between commissioners and applicants outside of public meetings.
City staff presenting the proposed amendments said the primary changes address absence definitions and the number of allowable absences, and include language dealing with meetings with applicants outside of public meetings. Staff recommended approval as amended.
Commissioners generally praised the wording and said the revised rules reflected prior discussion and input. Commissioner Pritzoe moved to approve the Feb. 20 amendments to the Sparks Planning Commission rules of procedure as presented by staff; Commissioner Bridal seconded. The motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Commissioner Sperber had previously asked that the commission revisit the ex‑parte meeting topic after additional experience; commissioners recorded on the public record that they would revisit that specific issue within a year and it was not being set in stone at this time.
The commission adjourned after brief announcements and a final call for public comment, which produced none.
