Staff said the hangar’s exterior skin was torn in a June storm and the buyer (Mitchell) purchased the hangar from the prior owner and is performing light repairs to return it to service. The ground lease is a new lease for the buyer; staff confirmed the buyer provided a bill of sale dated Jan. 13, 2024.
The lease term was described as 20 years with an option to renew. Authority members asked whether the structure must be brought up to current building codes as part of the repairs; staff said remodels within city limits must meet current standards, but because the hangar is on city property, staff would research whether additional requirements apply and report back.
The ground lease was approved by the Perry Municipal Authority on a voice vote.
