The Perry City Council adopted Resolution 2025-03 authorizing the city manager to file film and video production support requests and to take actions the city deems necessary to assist film, television, video and music recordings inside city limits.
Councilmembers said the resolution would give the city manager authority to temporarily suspend certain resolutions, ordinances and city code provisions, to close streets and parks, and to permit placement of barricades and other measures when a production requires them. City staff noted the draft ordinance language was prepared by staff member Bryce, who provided a version used successfully for another city and offered it to Perry at no charge.
Council discussion indicated the resolution supports the city’s efforts to become more film-friendly and gives a designated city employee authority to serve as the production contact and to act quickly when requests arrive. The council approved the resolution on a voice vote.
