The Sunbury City Events and Commemoration Committee on Feb. 20 discussed a nomination for a citizen recognition award for a longtime resident identified as Mister Owen.
Committee members who reviewed the application described Owen as a lifetime resident who has done significant, long-standing volunteer work for the community and said the nomination appeared to merit recognition. A committee member said, “He really has he's a long time resident, a lifetime resident, and he really does he's done a lot for the community.”
The committee directed staff to contact Owen to determine his availability to receive the award at an upcoming council meeting and to follow up with scheduling details.
Outcome: No formal vote on the award was recorded; staff were asked to arrange a date for presentation.
