School committee adopts district mission and vision language for policy AD

The Holyoke School Committee unanimously approved language for Policy AD — the district mission and vision — at its Jan. 27 meeting, adopting text taken from the Holyoke Public Schools website and authorizing it for submission to the receiver for review.
Committee members discussed whether to add an introductory sentence describing the committee’s role supporting the district mission. Miss Wilson said the policy as drafted can “stand alone” and that a separate committee statement was not necessary. Miss Lafave suggested adding a brief committee role statement but did not press that change.
The adopted text reads, in part, that through “an equitable, high quality education and trusting relationships, all Holyoke students develop the skills and access the opportunities to graduate high school prepared for life, career, and college.” The committee approved a motion to adopt the mission and vision as Policy AD and approved the item unanimously.
Members noted the policy-adoption process requires the receiver’s review and possible adjustments before it is posted for public comment and final approval under the district’s receivership-era policy workflow.
