Summary
Mayor Mark Myers said Greenwood has kept a low, flat tax rate while adding public safety staff and attracting major private investments including Endress+Hauser’s Innovation Center and George E. Booth Company headquarters, projects Myers said will bring jobs and investment.
Mayor Mark Myers highlighted Greenwood’s economic growth, low tax rate and recent commercial projects as evidence of the city’s business-friendly approach.
"In 2013, the city tax rate was 0.6962 per $100 of assessed valuation. In 2025, it's 0.6957 per $100 of assessed valuation. It's actually gone down," Mayor Mark Myers said, adding that the city managed to lower the rate while adding police, firefighters and other staff. He said Greenwood’s rate is among the lowest in the state and the lowest for any city with more than 20,000 people, and that the city has kept spending per resident and the number of employees among the state’s lowest.
Myers cited commercial projects including the Endress+Hauser Innovation Center and the George E. Booth Company headquarters, describing a 109,000-square-foot facility that he said will create about 90 engineering, legal and human-resources jobs with an average salary of more than $80,000; Myers said Endress+Hauser expects to invest over $50 million and that construction was underway.
He also noted retail additions announced by Simon Properties — including Panda Express and P.F. Chang's — and said Greenwood’s population grew by more than 12,600 residents (about 23%) over the past decade. The mayor said the Indy South Greenwood Airport completed key phases of an apron expansion in 2024, launched workforce development programs and hosted a successful airport day with thousands attending; 2025 plans include continued infrastructure improvements and expanded partnerships for aviation training.
Ending: Myers framed economic development, stable rates and low per-resident spending as central to Greenwood’s strategy for sustainable growth and to attracting firms and residents going forward.
