Bellamy Middle School showcases ‘Kids Cuisine’ life‑skills lunch program during public input

McDonough said Kids Cuisine is a special lunch event that began several years ago and takes place four times each academic year in Room 127 at Bellamy Middle School. Students prepare, greet, serve and clean up; staff said the program gives students opportunities to practice cooking, cleaning, mathematics, social skills and other life skills in a real‑world setting.
Several students briefed the committee: Carly said she likes greeting people; Chris said he likes to serve food; Caroline said she likes serving and the food; Louis said he likes clean‑up duties; other students described socializing with customers and enjoying the experience. McDonough and Manno said the program has had sustained support from the school community.
The committee did not take formal action on the program; the presentation was recorded as public input and the staff thanked the committee for time to describe the activity.
