Quincy School Committee applies to MSBA Accelerated Repair Program for four roof/window projects

The Quincy School Committee on Feb. 12 voted to submit four Statements of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority’s Accelerated Repair Program for building repairs, including roofs and windows, the superintendent said.
Superintendent Mulvey asked the committee to vote individually on each project so the district could be considered for MSBA funding. The four projects submitted were: Point Webster Middle School — windows, doors and roof; F. W. Parker Elementary School — roof; Broadmeadows Middle School — roof; and Atlantic Middle School — roof. Mulvey said there is no guarantee the MSBA will fund any or all projects but that submission is a prerequisite to consideration.
Each project passed an individual roll call vote. The meeting record shows consistent support from committee members and recognition of the city and school maintenance departments for preparing the applications.
Why it matters: MSBA accelerated repair funding can provide state contribution toward critical facility upgrades that the district would otherwise have to fund locally. The district identified roofs and building envelope concerns across multiple schools and placed them in the MSBA queue.
What’s next: Staff and the city’s public‑buildings team will continue project development and await MSBA review; the superintendent and mayor thanked maintenance and public‑building staff for their work on the submissions.
