Seward council accepts annual library report; members praise facility and programs

Library staff presented a yearly report required by statute and provided comparative year-to-year usage figures, showing higher circulation and a recovery in patron visits since the COVID-19 years. The presenter noted programming plans for the coming year and offered to answer questions.
Council members described the library as a high-quality facility with useful technology and accommodating staff. One councilmember said visiting economic development partners were “wowed” by the facility. Council members also thanked library staff for accommodating city meetings during off hours and noted a new lower-level conference room that several councilmembers said has been useful for small meetings.
The council voted unanimously to accept the report.
The report will remain part of the city’s records; library staff said they plan to continue refining programming and outreach to reflect patron preferences.
