Paul, district staff member, told the board the purchases cover grades 6 through Algebra II and include renewal and new-adoption components from vendors the district piloted, plus an Amazon Business order for calculators. "This work represents more than just a curriculum update," Paul said, describing a five-year refresh cycle driven by teacher-led review panels.
The district combined family consumable fees with general fund support to pay for the purchases. Paul said families had collectively paid roughly $153,825 in consumable fees that could be applied to the new purchases; the core purchases cited totaled $246,448.30 for the middle-school package and about $176,000 for the Carnegie Learning high-school core, with estimated general-fund contributions required to bring each purchase under the board's budgeted total. Paul noted the district expected to remain under budget by roughly $7,376 on the middle-school package after applying collected fees and inventory adjustments.
Board members asked about state standards and future lists of approved materials; Paul said the three primary vendors (including Amplify Desmos and Carnegie Learning) are vetted on EdReports and that any state changes would likely be a multi-year process. The board approved the contracts by roll call; each voting member recorded a "yes."
The superintendent's office will post the decision logs and quotes on the district curriculum site, and the administration described a three-year implementation and coaching plan tied to the purchases. The board's vote authorizes staff to execute the vendor agreements and the district to complete the calculator purchase through Amazon Business.
