Committee to forward $64,000 railroad crossing design agreement tied to $2M WSDOT grant

The Snoqualmie Parks and Public Works Committee on Feb. 19 agreed to forward an agreement for railroad crossing design work to the council consent agenda after staff outlined a state grant and the local agreement with the Railroad Museum.
Director Hamblin said the Railroad Museum requested a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) grant for safety improvements at King Street and at the Parkway and the city sponsored the museum’s grant application. Hamblin said the project was awarded about $2,000,000 by WSDOT.
The agenda bill before the committee covers the design portion and an agreement with the Railroad Museum for roughly $64,000. Hamblin said the city has signed the local agency agreement with WSDOT but that the WSDOT funds have not yet been obligated. He described the city’s role as a pass-through sponsor while the museum will handle contracting for the project.
Council members raised no objections to moving the item to consent. Chair Kat Cotton said it could go forward to the consent agenda; Council Member Brian Holloway concurred that, given the city’s pass-through role and the grant award, the item was appropriate for consent unless the administration requested otherwise. The committee did not record a formal committee vote in the transcript; staff will place the agreement on the next council consent agenda for formal approval.
