Staff said asbestos abatement and interior lighting/ceiling work will begin this summer at multiple campuses. Flowertown and Newington middle schools were highlighted: Flower Town (Flowertown) has about 30,000 square feet of panels to be abated and Newington about 50,000 square feet. The district issued purchase orders for full replacements of ceiling grids and lighting in several schools and expects the work to occur during summer breaks where feasible to limit disruption.
