The Monroeville Municipal Planning Commission on Feb. 19 approved preliminary and final subdivision of tax parcel 637 S 232, allowing the Monroeville Municipal Authority to split the property at 4185 and 4189 Old William Penn Highway into two lots.
Paul (staff) described the application as a request by the Monroeville Municipal Authority for preliminary and final subdivision approval under the Monroeville Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance No. 2525. The proposal divides the parcel into Lot A (8.57 acres) and Lot B (0.96 acres) in the S Conservancy Zoning District.
Joseph Story, identified as general manager of the Monroeville Municipal Authority, told the commission the authority seeks to sell the smaller subdivided building while retaining the larger lot that contains the authority's old administration building and an emergency water pump station in the basement that must be maintained and cannot be sold.
"We're attempting to sell the building on the subdivided lot," Story said, adding the basement of the larger building contains a water pump station that must be retained as an emergency system. The commission moved to approve the subdivision; a motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Paul noted the site has good access along the parkway and described it as a large open space that could be used for a variety of purposes.
No conditions, bond amounts or additional permitting requirements were read into the record during the meeting. The commission approved the subdivision as presented; staff will record the final plan and notify appropriate county offices as required by the ordinance.
The commission adjourned after concluding the item.
