Housing Committee advances multiple bills to the floor and authorizes drafting of committee bills

The committee also approved drafting several committee bills including proposed House Bill 5002 (housing and needs of homeless persons) and Senate Bill 12 (Connecticut's housing needs), and voted to draft proposals on removing unauthorized individuals from real property (HB 6338), an exemption from the affordable housing appeals procedure for municipalities with aquifer protection areas (HB 5365), and prioritizing rental assistance vouchers for municipalities below the threshold for the affordable housing appeals procedure (HB 6491). Committee members raised policy concerns during the drafting votes: some members objected to how broad certain draft concepts could become, and some sought commitments that language would not change substantively without further review.
