Board recognizes Haughton marksmanship team, National Merit finalist and upcoming I3 Art Expo

Bossier Parish School Board honored Haughton High marksmanship team for state and national finishes, a National Merit Scholar finalist from Airline High, and promoted the district’s I3 Art Expo.
The Bossier Parish School Board opened its Feb. 20 meeting with recognition of student achievements and district events.
Sonya Bills, public relations liaison for Bossier Parish Schools, highlighted Haughton High School’s marksmanship team (the "Bucks and Blue"), which earned multiple top finishes including first place in the Air Force Division at the state championship and fifth place at the Air Force JROTC national championship. Bills singled out Leila Briggs, who finished as state champion and national runner‑up in individual competition. "Leila Briggs here earned national champion runner‑up and Chris Fick finished 20," Bills said.
Haughton principal David Haney credited the team’s coach, Colonel Tony Zuko, and noted the school has an on‑campus shooting range the team uses for practice. Bossier Federal Credit Union was recognized as a sponsor of the school award medallion; Sonya Bills said the title sponsorship for the Red Carpet Awards is $7,000 per year.
Bills also announced Airline High School senior Georgia Price has advanced from National Merit semifinalist to finalist; the student plans to attend LSU and major in biology. Bills promoted the district’s sixth annual I3 Art Expo at the Bossier City Civic Center Feb. 27–March 1, saying second graders will attend day sessions and the event will be open to the public evenings and Saturday. "It is free, free family fun. It's all centered around our students and the many opportunities that are offered to them here at Bossier School," Bills said.
The recognitions drew applause and the board presented trophies and medallions to the students and staff who attended the meeting.
