Commissioners approve KPMB bid to replace two circulation pumps at county facilities

Commissioners approved the recommendation and asked staff to issue a purchase order; staff said the pumps could arrive on site within a week and be installed shortly thereafter.
Scott said the existing pumps date to 1996 and that the recommended pumps are Grundfos units with built-in variable-frequency drives. He said the new pumps will reduce electrical consumption and that the county has budgeted $43,500 in the nursing-home building improvements line to cover the project. Staff noted one pump had already failed and that the replacement is time-sensitive because losing the second pump would cut heat to the nursing home and other county buildings.
Why it matters: the replacement addresses an immediate operational risk to heating and hot-water circulation in multiple county facilities and is expected to produce electrical savings from modern pump technology.
