The Arts Commission and Education Subcommittee of the Arts Commission voted to approve a one-year extension of the artistic services agreement for the sculpture Enrich Heritage by artist Adolfo Gonzalez, authorizing $3,000 to continue the work on display at 1300 C Street in Ward 3.
The vote came during the commission’s regular meeting after staff presented the request and the commission moved to approve the budgeted amount. "It's $3,000 so if you approve this amount, we can go ahead and move forward with this contract," said Laura Machado, Cultural Affairs staff.
Commissioner Hackett Morgan moved to approve the amount; Commissioner Lee seconded. The motion carried on a voice vote. The commission also approved the final minutes of the Jan. 16, 2025 meeting earlier in the agenda. "Commissioner Chi, motion to approve meeting minutes," a commissioner said, followed by a second from Commissioner Carmen Fields; the minutes were approved by voice vote.
The extension covers a one-year lease period for the existing agreement; the staff presentation named the contractor and location but did not detail additional contract terms beyond the extension and the $3,000 budgeted amount.
