Abington Heights athletics update: teams enter district playoffs; swimmers and wrestlers set schedules

Wrestling individual districts were scheduled at Wilkes-Barre Area High School on Feb. 20–21; diving districts were scheduled at Wilkes-Barre CYC on Feb. 22; and swim championships were set for Feb. 28–March 1 at Wilkes-Barre Area High School with a 5 p.m. start. Spring sports physicals through Lehigh Valley Health Network were scheduled for Feb. 22; spring sports were set to begin on March 3. The athletics office noted a gym-capacity limit of 800 spectators at a recent home game and advised early arrival for popular contests.
Team highlights included senior Robbie Lucas joining the boys basketball 1,000-point club and posting a career-high 35 points against West Scranton; Maggie Coleman joining the girls 1,000-point club in January; boys swim team dominance with only one loss, and indoor-track athletes setting new personal records, including an age-group indoor mile record by Anna Pujalowski (5:04) at the Garden State Invitational.
The board did not take action related to athletics at the Feb. 19 meeting; the report was informational.
