The Western Regional Water Commission approved a contract not to exceed $40,000 with Good Standing to refresh the commission’s website, create interactive visuals tied to the regional water management plan and produce an initial series of short “How Water Works” videos.
Kim Rigdon, WRWC staff, said the commission has directed work to “beef up” the WRWC website and make the regional water management plan more accessible. Cammie Elquis LaRue, communications planner with Good Standing, described a pragmatic outreach approach focused on creating entry points for residents and stakeholders to understand complex water topics. The proposed scope includes key visuals (interactive infographics), four to five short videos explaining regional water-management topics, web assets members can reuse, and coordination with Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency for hosting and integration.
Commissioners asked about website maintenance and long-term updates. Rigdon said TMRPA will host and provide ongoing support under an existing interlocal agreement. Commissioners praised the proposed video series as a way to explain costs, regulatory drivers, and the basics of water systems to constituents.
The motion to approve the contract was made by Ms. Garcia, seconded by Mr. Martinez, and passed unanimously. The work will be funded from the Regional Water Management Fund.
