Board approves bid to rebuild Plum High tennis courts; capital projects will fund work

Bids were solicited from three firms; Keystone Sports submitted the lowest bid and the recommendation included removal of the current surface, reconstruction of the base, new fencing and windscreens that will include updated Plum script branding. "We believe that it's a safety concern," a board liaison said, noting instances where the current surface produced "dead spots" and uneven bounce.
Project timing will depend on weather, with staff saying work will begin when temperatures and site conditions are suitable. Board members and staff discussed impacts on the spring tennis season and parking; athletic staff arranged to use nearby Boyes Park courts for scheduled matches and practices while work proceeds. The board recorded five votes in favor of moving the bid forward and allocated the project to the capital projects fund.
