Board approves full resurfacing of Holiday Park tennis courts; work to begin when weather permits

The Plum Borough School District board approved a contract on Feb. 11 to fully resurface the Holiday Park tennis courts, accepting a low bid from Keystone Sports. District staff described the current courts as unsafe and said the project will include excavation, resurfacing, new fencing and windscreens that will feature the district’s updated Plum script.
A staff member noted safety issues on the existing surface: "I've seen people drop a tennis ball and hit a dead spot, and it doesn't really bounce back up. We believe that it's a safety concern," she said. The district plans to use capital-project funds for the work and to coordinate with the athletics department so teams can use Boyes Park courts while the project is completed.
Board members discussed timing for construction and cited concerns about weather and curing of concrete. Operations staff said they would not pour concrete until temperatures and conditions were appropriate; staff estimated construction could extend into April or May depending on weather. The board recorded a 5–0 vote to approve the contract and directed staff to provide scheduling updates and to minimize disruption to student parking and spring athletics.
