Howard Park Tennis Center reopens after yearlong renovation with new pickleball courts

A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the reopening of the renovated Howard Park Tennis Center after more than a year of renovations.
The renovated facility now has seven resurfaced clay courts, two resurfaced hard courts, an expanded clubhouse and four new pickleball courts, city and event organizers said at the ceremony. On reopening day the courts were crowded, and players described the facilities positively.
Tennis players Marcelo Rodriguez and Juan Cepeda, who is recovering from a tennis injury, said the improvements were well done and that “everything looks perfect,” according to event remarks. A resident at the ceremony described the site as “a mixer” that brings together clay, hard-court tennis and pickleball players.
