Justin Grimes addressed the commission after the vote. “It’s an honor and a privilege to lead you,” Grimes said, thanking the commission, city staff and the firefighters. He invited residents to visit their local fire station: “I invite you to come see your fire station. Meet your firefighters.”
The commission’s action recorded a unanimous vote to confirm the appointment. Commissioners noted the appointment would be retroactive to the pay period beginning Feb. 15 so payroll reflects the grade and effective date.
