Committee hears that three separate boundary proposals met procedural requirements, staff says

At its fourth meeting, a Bradley County committee was told that three separate boundary proposals — from the city of Cleveland, the city of Charleston and Bradley County — have followed procedural steps required by state law, staff member Robert said.

Robert told the committee that the three entities submitted their proposals independently: the city of Cleveland did so in the late summer of 2024, the city of Charleston submitted a resolution about a month ago signed by Mayor Lattimore, and the county finalized its proposal in January. "All 3 entities... have followed procedure according to what state law dictates," Robert said.

The remarks were offered as the committee began new-business discussion about boundaries; no vote on any map, ordinance or resolution related to the proposals was recorded in the transcript. Robert said members were likely familiar with the boundaries and noted there is another map available; Cindy Slater was identified as having copies to distribute. The meeting record shows the group approved its minutes earlier in the session by voice vote, but the transcript does not record a roll-call tally on that item.
